ABOS3-052
Joseph McNulty "Walk Crawlin'"
LP

€ 13.00

The long-awaited, no-longer-delayed vinyl debut from songwriter / garage experimentalist Joseph McNulty is here! Upon it, classic loaf-eye college rawk / power pop / jangle punk songs and instrumentals, rife with thoroughly catchy hooks and a gorgeously battered drum kit. Also, slacker-esque country-isms, and even a slightly Sun Araw-leaning dub-like gem. Ten cuts on this one-man-band epic - a limited pressing of 112; black vinyl. Jacket art by C. Kann, lyric sheet illustrated by James Rickard. Free download code included.
Audio samples: Snippets from the record

ABOS3-051
Pregnant Spore / nodolby
one-sided LP

€ 6.00

A single-sided split, pairing two heavy hitters/fellow label owners, noise-and-beyond-scene wise: Justin Marc Lloyd and Mic Scariot, both making their solo debuts on the 12" LP format here. Thirteen lucky minutes of blown out blissful chaos, manic mushroom musique, action malfunction, lo-fi riffs, all mangled marvelously. Limited pressing of 52, in painted/stencilled jackets, with various inserts (vintage book clippings, et al.)
Audio samples: Pregnant Spore / nodolby

ABOS3-043
The Old Rig / Hobo Cubes / Saturn Finger / Balder-
2x 7"

€ 8.00 LAST COPIES!

The Old Rig "Near the Ground" / Hobo Cubes "Behind the Sun"
Saturn Finger "The Idea of Fire and Air" / Balder- "Heavily, With All Her Splendor"

Garage drones, cosmic miracles, psychedelic mists. Double 7", all four sides at 33 RPM. Black vinyl. Housed in spraypainted/stencilled 7" Arigato Paks. A limited pressing of 99 copies.
Audio sample: Snippets from the records

ABOS3-042
Strongly Imploded / Matomeri
7"

€ 4.00 LAST COPIES!

Strongly Imploded "Hier et aujourd'hui"
Matomeri "Crow Bar Walk"

Proudly presenting the very first vinyl release to be given an 'ABOS' catalog number - a 45 of two exhilarating three-minute jazz-punk scorchers from Europe's way-out corners. Italy's Strongly Imploded (fab CD-Rs on Kimberly Dawn and Ikuisuus) hits us with psycho sax outbursts and chopping block electronics, creative deconstruction, augmented by plenty of "rock" oomph! Finland's Matomeri (previous releases on OMS-B, and Ikuisuus as well) takes a somewhat lower tech road, cave walls of sound unbound(ed), primal rippin' mad great! Limited to "approximately" 102 copies with hand decorated / stamped center labels and xeroxed paste-on art.
MP3 sample: Excerpts of both tracks

BSBTA Vinyl was a precursor of sorts (2005-2009) to A Beard of Snails. Here are four BSBTA titles you might be interested in...

BSBTAVINYL7
v/a: Vinyl Snails
LP
(BSBTA Vinyl / A Beard of Snails co-release)

€ 12.00 LIMITED RESTOCK!

A:
Hunton Quintet "Original Record 2", Monks of the Balhill / Pillars of Heaven "La Voz de la Que Había", Anla Courtis / Paz Levinson "El Alud", Lee Noyes / Bruno Duplant "This is Our Post-Exotic Anthem", vvalter de maria "GIBSRUMCOLALGEBSBTA"

B: Century Plants "Cresting", (VxPxC) "About to Collapse", Lee Noble / Steve Molyneux "Born Buried", Lars Ro / Sometimes Jasmine "Ind i kuglen"

Yet more "psychedelic collaborative recordings" from more of our international friends on this (needless to say) follow-up/companion piece to 2008's "Vinyl Beards".

"Vinyl Snails" is 45 minutes of haunting voices, prepared instruments, battered blues, mesmeric lo-fi pastorale, and ritualist improv psychosis.

Artwork/packaging note: these last 13 copies come in LP jackets that have been painted black (rather than the black jackets used for the other copies in this edition); the stencilled blue image on the front is the same.

BSBTAVINYL6
v/a: Vinyl Beards
LP
(BSBTA Vinyl / A Beard of Snails co-release)

€ 12.00 LAST COPIES!

A:
Sea Zombies "Trapped and Wounded", We Wait for the Snow / throuRoof "The Red is Gone", Cones "Haffu Daffu Waffel", Family Battle Snake / Sarah's Charity "Violet Lotus Vision"

B: Donato Epiro / Vanessa Rossetto "A Flower Tried to Eat Me", Shiggajon "Atolla", The End Springs / A Man & A Guitar "Dusty Train", Fabio Orsi / Valerio Cosi "Cold Fusion (in Our Fingers) (Alt. Mix)"

Eight collaborative tracks from a veritable who's who of our favourite 'psych/folk/noise-underground' people. Individually stencilled outer sleeves, 206 copies. Surprised these didn't all disappear years ago.

BSBTAVINYL2
Elektronavn / Exquisite Russian Brides
7"
(BSBTA Vinyl)

€ 3.00 LAST COPIES!

Elektronavn "Cosmic Depth / A Sense of Coherence"
Exquisite Russian Brides "Golden Rain Over Fascist Europe"

A delectable pairing: two meditative dronescape / avant-psych pieces from two of Denmark's finest musicians in the field; Magnus O. Majmon (Elektronavn) and Marc Kellaway (ERB) also make up two quarters of Pink Luminous Invocation. Loops, zurna, bansuri, cello, bells, vocals and xylophone are utilized. Magic is made. An edition of 270, in block printed sleeves (each individually stamped, two different designs) by Marc K.

BSBTAVINYL1
Antenne / cryptic scenery
7"
(BSBTA Vinyl)

€ 3.00

Antenne "Long to Kiss"
cryptic scenery "Escape"

Ethereal, expansive, chill(ed) lo-fi gems; female vocals, male vocals, mindblowing guitar-isms
, electronic intimacy, dreamy distortion, hazy loop-craft. Locked grooves on both sides. No less than 275 of these were pressed; last pile here...

ABOS3-108
Il Rovescio Del Giardino "Extracts From Dying Circumstance"
c50

€ 6.00

Introducing... another (Italian) artist playing the mystery card! Nonetheless, "Extracts..." is truly a landmark release for A Beard of Snails Records (while being the label's last ever cassette, alas.) Revel, now, in these fifty minutes: voluminous and/or meditative compositions sculpted by/from soaring guitars, ominous percussion, dissonant inflections, heavy ether, and creatively manipulated / integrated field recordings. On yellow tapes, in hand painted / "stripped" BradPak cases - each one different.
Audio sample: Two excerpts from the tape
Also featured on a Metaphysical Circuits Mixcloud mix (2nd last track)

ABOS3-050
Letterfounder meets Ragged Lines "Book Club Beatz"
c28

€ 5.00

A brief smattering of brilliant(ine) house-centric Letterfounder (formerly S/H/A/R/R/P/S, Rough Ride of Crafts) recordings, augmented by the synths and shizzle of Ragged Lines (formerly Inhibitionists, Pacific Mausoleum) here. A Lewiston Mac vs. a Copenhagen PC + walls of sound = dance if you dare.
Audio sample: Untitled

ABOS3-110
On the Wrong Planet "III"
c40

€ 6.00

Indeed, the third album from (½ of Small Things on Sundays) Henrik Bagner's On the Wrong Planet project. With III, you get thirty-nine minutes worth of harsh power workouts, minimal drone wind visions, and skittering automation paintings to immerse your fine self in. One of our label's best sounding cassette releases, to boot. In an edition of 50 pro duplicated copies (with artwork by the other ½ of SToS.)
Audio samples: Convex, Hey-DRM (Cola-Mix), Rumble 3

ABOS3-109
Vejgaard Ambient / Andrew Perry/Dead Wood
c58

€ 6.00

Two-albums-on-one-cassette (limited to 52 pro duplicated copies) = our ultimate zen split tape release; though eclectic, similar vibes do... vibrate throughout.
Northern Denmark's Vejgaard Ambient checks in with four well crafted tripnotic rhythmic/atmospheric miracles under the title "The Dream House Diaries Vol. 1." Laid back lysergic abstractions and hauntological structure, interspersed with environmental sounds; think "down-to-Earth" moreso than "Kosmische." Lovely.
A different beast is "Peter Schmeichel's Excitable Tricycle", eight pieces from improv specialists Andrew Perry and Dead Wood. Here be fearless(ly) prepared guitar, drone/doom filth, and creeping curiousities. Ominous excursions and odd jaunts - devoid of beats and melody, but exceptionally "dream(y), baby, dream(y.)"
Audio samples: Vejgaard Ambient / Andrew Perry / Dead Wood

ABOS3-091
The Cats' Orchestra "Widow Fish Rumours"
c25

€ 5.00

New crazy gems from Nicholay Syrov's The Cats' Orchestra project (...split tape appearances on No Kings and Cae-sur-a, semi-recently), at times distinctly Russian, while positively otherworldly throughout. Shall we coin it toywave!? Lots of mysterious fun trick noisemakers on display here, at any rate; nightmare-whimsy synth(?), Pandit-esque organ (t)whirls, sepulchral soundtrack strings, and lush bass murk, too! A brief one, limited to 21 copies, in individually hand painted cardboard 'BradPak' cases.
Audio sample: Mongoose

ABOS3-105
Nundata "Amoeba"
c49

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Well thought out compositional mayhem via filthy washes and gurgled seances: another winner from Serbia's ambassador of kaleidoscopic cacophony, Nundata. "Amoeba" is harsh, but cavernous. Brooding, rumbling, lo-fi, switchboard worship. On pro dubbed Canadian cassettes, in an edition of 25. Wraparound covers in repurposed CD sleeves, with an insert card and an "obi band."
Audio sample: Ectoplasm Part 1 (excerpt)

ABOS3-106
Vales "Sebakh"
c40

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

In ye olde noisecyclopedia, Dave Doyen's (aka. Vales) likeness should appear next to textured sound. "Sebakh" is two side-long opuses of deep bass dreamin', epic oscillator enlightenment, doom, dust, rust, crust. A brilliant combination of sci-fi magic and earthborn dronecraft. On pro dubbed Canadian cassettes, in an edition of 25. Wraparound covers in repurposed CD sleeves, with an insert card and an "obi band."
Audio sample: Excerpt of side A

ABOS3-107
Micromelancolié / Wolf Fluorescence
c60

€ 6.00

Musically, a perhaps mismatched split, pitting Poland's prolific Micromelancolié "against" Tennessean tornado Wolf Fluorescence! On the label's first (and probably only) chrome tape release, Micromelancolié starts off the show. Glitches, clicks 'n' cuts, urban field recordings and found sounds (ranging from "identifiable" to "acid cheerleader vibes") are collaged into a brilliant mass of sonic storytelling. For the second half, Wolf Fluorescence delights with catchy, highly riveting repetition: syncopated ambient grooves... synthetic, angelic. Wraparound covers in repurposed CD sleeves, with insert cards and an "obi band." Home dubbed, in real time.
Audio samples: Micromelancolié /
Wolf Fluorescence

ABOS3-044
Small Things on Sundays "Drill"
c36

€ 6.00

In contrast to most of this Copenhagen duo's unique brand of dark ambient, "Drill" is an adventurous, gloriously destructive / deconstructed bit of esoteric turntablism; plunderphonics, the interesting way. Facemelting. Amorphous. Off-kilter. Multiple moods. The sheer awesomeness of it all almost burning holes in these nice pro-duplicated-in-the-U.K. (anarchy or not) tapes!
Audio sample: A short mix

ABOS3-058
c.haxholm "Slow Waves of You"
c52

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Claus Haxholm has been on the scene(s) for, like, a decade already, with - not surprisingly - a countless mostly ultra obscure releases to his name; even more under under various aliases, and with numerous collaborative combos. The five (mostly) longform selections on this fiddy-two minute'r showcase Claus's acoustic, hypnotic singer/songwriter-y sides, alongside a couple of more droning, scorched (non-song) pastures. Oceaonographic, exquisite. An edition of 25 light grey tapes, home dubbed in real time.
Audio sample: Snippets from the album

ABOS3-099
Pacific Mausoleum "Communist Sweepstakes"
c37

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Side 'A' is filthy urban field recordings (captured through a digital camera's built in microphone), refurbished as dismal dub/drone/loop ditties; Conversely, side 'B' carries decidedly cleaner symphonic attributes, similar to - and employing the same software-messing-about as - the music on PM's barely existent "I Could Fall From Grace or For Her." This one comes in an edition of 9 copies (which, from experience, is more than enough), in multi-layered covers.
Audio sample: Enclave of Rainbows

ABOS3-094
Dao De Noize / Troj
c28

€ 5.00 LAST COPIES!

Blazing sci-fi beauties from the ever prolific Dao De Noize and the more under the radar (but equally intriguing) Troj. Seering side-long sculptures of haunted analogue synthesis, rusted android whispers, lunar stormfront machinations, or so. Stamped blue tapes, thick xeroxed j-cards.
Audio samples: Dao De Noize / Troj

ABOS3-057
Spittle Sisters "These Dark Objects
"
c37

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Strange, all encompassing vibes on this demented/determined ritualist landmark, from the bodies, minds, and souls of Bad Orb (Leopard Leg, etc.) and Justin Wiggan (Dreams of Tall Buildings, etc.) Cavern electronics, gothic dub strains, churning black waves, trashed pocket sinfonias like abstract smoke signal soundtracks. On pro duplicated red tapes in an edition of 52.
Audio sample: Dark Object

ABOS3-096
Bjerga/Iversen
"New Electric Morning"
c38

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Having done releases for nearly everyone, we’re pleased these Norwegian legends've finally turned up in the garden of the bearded snail. Hereupon, two side-long performances built from golden drones and subtle, ethereal mutant sunshine. Organic, creeping, sonically intricate. Stamped, yellow-as-dawn cassettes.
Audio sample: Untitled (excerpt)

ABOS3-056
Pacific Mausoleum "Gag Me With Devil Horns"
c30

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Jovial yet musty, this field trip through Hellfire cranks Pacific Mausoleum's quaint "sloppy/harsh psych/noise terror thing" up a few notches. A vast array of textures, here. Brian Green (specifically, samples of his cigar box synth and circuit bent objects) guest stars. In semi-holographic covers and hand decorated tape labels, 14 copies of these fuckers exist (the most ever for a Pacific Mausoleum release!)

ABOS3-048
Hokkei Quartet "Hempty's Love" c40

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

The debut tape release from this Ukrainian combo (including members of Moglass, Riasni Drova, and Noah Coward) consists of two side-long deconstructivist pieces of basement incantation, expert clatter, and freeform reed rides, forming something akin to shamanic doom jazz. Or...? Heavy on atmosphere, loose on structure (though the B side does end with inciting post-post punk-esque dirge-drum assaults), "Hempty's Love" is... love! A pro dubbed edition of 52, with artwork that pays homage to the Cramps Records DIVerso LPs of the '70s.
MP3 sample: Two excerpts from the tape

ABOS4-124
Zaklanie "Día de los Vivos..."
3" CD-R

€ 4.00

Russian-American e-freudschaft Zaklanie in the house! Not one to help cement our "we are not a metal/metal-related label" plea, the first ever mini CD-R release from Zaklanie (and, likely, the last A Beard of Snails three-inch featuring anyone) is a blackened beauty we're thrilled to offer. Featured are two different mixes/edits of the 9+ minute epic "Salve Señor La Muerte!", a weirdo-ambient / dark, dark, dark spoken word piece / ritual dirge... oozing calaveras de azúcar. While, admittedly, hovering outside our comfort zone, it does stray far enough from most black metal conventions/pet peeves that we can totally get behind it (and are!) Limited to 20 copies - 13 on black bottom CD-Rs, 7 on traditional "silver" discs.
Audio sample: Stream one of the two versions of "Salve Señor La Muerte!" here

ABOS3-079
Il Taglia "I'm Transparent in the Middle of a Canyon Looking at the Sky"
4x CD-R set

€ 20.00
(or buy this + one other CD-R title for just €18 ! - see "package discounts" above)

Comprised of four seperate albums...
"A Transparent Hospital in the Space", "Alone, in the Middle of the Planet Made of Marble", "Amplified Violet Canyon", and "At Home, in the Year 2791, Looking at the Sky"
...we are overjoyed to be offering you the latest superstatement from Il Taglia. Space folk strains emitting cosmic guitar energy osmosis, banjo string theory, shaker appeal; thick blocks of distortion, dissolving into whispers and / or glitches. Psychedelic crusts, into ambient winds, and back. Utopian / dystopian in theme; cornucopian in stature - over five hours of music! CD-Rs in sleeves, housed in minimalist homemade cardstock outer covers.
Audio samples: 15 minutes of excerpts from the albums

ABOS3-063
Cloud Shepherd
"Unknown"
CD-R

€ 6.00 LAST COPIES!

Oakland represent! Here, the cloud gods ply us with desolate jazz animalism and underwater-esque improvisatory expertise, from the barely there, demure, and chamber-like, to the raging and angular. Heavy on theremin (A Beard of Snails' first experience releasing recordings of this iconic instrument) and saxophone (no Careless Whisperin' here, though!), the album's four tracks - totalling 77 minutes - are a challenging but ultimately rewarding listen. CD-R housed in a black envelope with paste-on art, and a semi-transparent insert.
Audio samples: An earlier version of the album

ABOS2-034
The Super Burritos
"Two Monkeys Fight For a Banana"
3" CD-R

€ 4.00

This, a "reissue" of the second and final release from Italy's now defunct luchadores of indie rawk loudness, finds them surfin' the wild stratospheres of eternal Summertime. It's all about Panda Kid now, so "Two Monkeys..." is firmly entrenched in the recent past, but still fresh in its own right / rite. And A B of S agreed to release a version of it, so... enjoy! Banana linocuts on cardstock covers and mini CD-R labels, too.
Audio sample: You Are Driving Me Insane

ABOS3-067
Post-Materialists "Post-Materialists E.P."
3" CD-R

€ 4.00 LAST COPIES!

After releases of more recent material on weird pop beacons PIAPTK and Eggy, here's the first physical edition (limited, but still) of Russian auteurs Post-Materialists' brief debut E.P. Upon it, clusters of saxsational, primal art punk... Swordfish caviar in the trombone, fairy dust on the trout mask... Artwork is a reproduction (Xeroxed on cardstock, then watercolour'd) of the digital EP's original cover illustration.
Audio samples: Stream 4 of the E.P.'s 5 tracks

ABOS3-104
Memories of the Past "Nostalgia"
CD-R

€ 5.00 LAST COPIES!
- - - - -
or download / listen

Premiere outing from this Nebula VII spin-off, upon which a pristine melancholy minimalist synth is juxtaposed with authentic nature sounds. More "fresh air" than "blackened ambient." Clocking in at just over 22 minutes, this is A Beard of Snails' shortest ever full size CD-R. Full colour art affixed to digipaks, in protective sleeves.

ABOS3-100
v/a: Bearded Snails
3x 3" CD-R

€ 10.00 by itself

€ 1.00 when you purchase at least €10 worth of other items

Simply put: a souvenir compilation commemorating the 100th spot in the A Beard of Snails catalogue. By no means a definitive collection of everything / everyone this label has ever represented, but a wondrous 15 track / 15 artist anthology in its own right, featuring completely exclusive material (as of writing.) All in an elegant, minimalist package: individual mini CD-R sleeves housed in plain gold mirror card covers; the cover art, thereby, is you. Details at Discogs

ABOS3-061
Caligine "Anomia Mediterranea"
CD-R

€ 7.00 LAST COPIES!

More than simply a "freak-folk-and-beyond CD-R to end all freak-folk-and-beyond CD-Rs", Caligine's latest (after exceptional past appearences on Jozik, Stunned, Sturmunddrugs, and The Wool Shop Productions, as well Caligine's own Monstres par Excès) attains absolute tour de force status, here. Revel in these tranquil, entrancing transworldly acoustic anomalies, stellar ether-songs, and roaring, electrified oceanographic pedalpushers, interspersed with archeological samples and such.

A B of S's elegant edition comes in a sleeve of different types/layers of paper/plastic. A vinyl release, with different artwork, will likely happen through Monstres par Excès later.
Audio sample: Snippets from the album

Ala Vjiior / Twin Polygamists c20 (No Kings)

€ 5.00 SOLD OUT AT SOURCE, LAST COPIES HERE!

Frank Oullette of Hobo Cubes / Hobo Cult sends us minimalist love with a new side project Ala Vjiior on side A of this split, and leader of Copenhagen boutique A Beard of Snails, Christian Kann, turns up the cold heat for side B as Twin Polygamists. Double minimalist electronic action! Microsound clouds drifting into deep space. Best listened to in a Cathedral. Two-layer artwork: letterpressed lino-cut designed by Amy Fortunato, with glass painting acetate overlay by Geoffrey Sexton. Pro-dubbed blue imprinted tapes, edition of 70. (Picture of full packaging.)
-- No Kings Record Co.

Inhibitionists / Afterlife c63 (Stunned)

€ 7.00 SOLD OUT AT SOURCE, LAST COPIES HERE!

Whether he’s running one of Europe’s best underground labels or tearing it up as Inhibitionsists, Christian Kann has always been a guy to look out for. On this split edition with NY synth sons Afterlife, Kann drops some of his most dynamic work yet, which is saying something significant for those aware of past Inhibitionists output. Sequestering every variety of bent and dented tone, this Side A is forward-propulsive antics of the highest order. Schizoid algorithms are interrupted by free-clatter & string passages, deftly bouncing back to form and repeating similar manic cycles a few more times before passing the torch to Afterlife. Within seconds of the handoff, Ryan McGill and Franklin Teagle are snapped to breathless attention, their circuitry poised for astral action. Never failing to astonish with their proprietary flavor of team-synthesizer, the side they offer here can be considered the essential post-script to their recent Stunned cassette (no. 116). Darker in shade and even foreboding at moments, this piece suggests the colored showers of “Hypnautic Rinse” can also be converted to temporary cloudcover. For this reason and many more we turn a closer listen to these skilled musicians of the nebulous realm. Limited edition of 111 pro-dubbed & imprinted c63 tapes w/ double-sided jcard and insert.
-- Stunned Records

Inhibitionists "Trapezoid Man" CD-R (Ark Tarp)

€ 8.00

Christian Kann is truely a man of many faces and personalities. A man with an impressive count of alter egos and releases both in playing music and as the founder of various highly respected DIY labels in Copenhagen. It's no surprise that Trapezoid Man is just as colorful as the creator and embraces a wide range of minimalistic lo-fi landscapes and surreal sound patterns. You wanna get this one!
(Housed in an Arigato DVD Pak with fun inserts - picture of packaging.)
-- Ark Tarp

Inhibitionists "Lithium Salt Mines" CD-R (Tape Drift)

€ 6.00

Solo project from Christian Kann, from Copenhagen, and brains behind the amazing A Beard of Snails record label. Ostensibly a "noise" record, this is so much more. It's simply a phenomenal collection of tracks that cohere and make aural sense in a way that most music never will. Every sound is perfectly placed, the timing is impeccable, and the music consistently inspires. Somehow Christian has managed to create a set of mysterious sounds that balance multiple worlds and serve as a lightning rod to the cosmos. Easily one of the best and most welcoming noise records we've heard, but it sacrifices absolutely nothing for its accessibility. Next level indeed.
-- Tape Drift

Inhibitionists "Pfeiffer at the Gates of Hawn" 3" CD-R (Kimberly Dawn)

€ 3.00 SOLD OUT AT SOURCE, LAST COPIES HERE!

These are abstracted tonal mazes provided by Denmark's strangest sonic alchemist, Inhibitionists (aka Christian Kann from A Beard of Snails fame). Expertly crafted pathways of textural complexity give way to reveal a moist core. It's a dream vacation on darker pathways - lanterns not provided. Weird nods to 60's psych and pop actresses give no immediate answers as this music exists on another plane entirely - where going to the movies is like washing your face with wet cement. Available in a numbered edition of 50 hand stamped 3" cdrs.
-- Kimberly Dawn
